SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental is installing four new gondola lifts and embarking on a host of other improvements. NEW
“It will make one of the largest and most modern ski resorts in the world even more modern,” says the bold statement from the ski area.
Two of the lifts will open this winter the other two follow soon.
SkiWelt Brixen im Thale will have a new €15.5m combination lift – a mixture of gondolas and chair.
It will be the first such lift in this part of Austria.
A large photovoltaic system has been installed to help power the new lift.
And not to be outdone
SkiWelt Westendorf is investing €15.5m in a new 8-seater chairlift.
A new reservoir for snowmaking is being built on the Kleine Salve.
It will have a capacity of 50,000 cubic metres to help with the areas snowmaking capabilities.
The area has 229 kilometres of slopes with snowmaking and 120 kilometres can be made fit for skiing in just 3 days.
The area has 90 lifts and 284kms of slopes.
PlanetsKI was in the Ski Welt last winter as we lived in Innsbruck and made a few trips to the area.
See here for our take on it:
And what about the other two lifts promised?
A10-person gondola up to Hexenwasser is currently being built in Söll, to run in both summer and winter.
The lift will begin operation in July 2020 and replace the former 8-person gondola.
Another 10-person gondola is currently being built in SkiWelt Hopfgarten-Itter to replace the old four-person gondola in time for the 2020/21 winter season.
The lift will be 650 metres longer than before.
There will be a middle station where new pistes have also been created during the course of rebuilding.
It will also operate in the summer.
Austria has a number of new lifts for this winter.
We reported earlier on a new linking lift that will connect the Ski Circus with Zell am See/Kaprun and summer work has been going on in Kitzbuhel in the Tirol.
